FROM ALL indications, the famous “Incompetent Mahama” phrase will feature prominently in the campaign message of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2024 polls.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who coined the phrase, has stated that Mr. Mahama has still not done anything to prove that he is competent, hence the repetition of the phrase.
According to him, during the 2016 elections campaign, he researched and realised that Mr. Mahama, despite being in active politics for 30 years, has nothing to show, in terms of policies to transform the country.
Dr. Bawumia said he decided to tag Mr. Mahama with the “incompetent” phrase in order to force him (Mahama) to state just one policy that he has introduced to develop the country, but he couldn’t produce any.
“Mr. Mahama has been in active politics for 30 years. He started from assemblyman, MP, deputy minister, minister, Vice President and President, yet he cannot show a single policy to transform the state.
“I have been asking him to show just one policy that he has introduced during his 30 years in active politics to transform the state and he couldn’t provide any,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
According to him, Ghanaians only remember Mr. Mahama for “dumsor and guinea fowls” during his 30 years in politics, stressing that he was justified to tag the NDC leader as the “Incompetent One”.
Dr. Bawumia, who is campaigning in the Ashanti Region to become the NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 polls, said definitely he would force Mr. Mahama to show his single policy that has transformed the country.
“I know that he cannot show any policy but I will ask him again in 2024 just as I asked him in the previous elections in 2016 and 2020,” the Vice President said, attracting wild applause.
According to Dr. Bawumia, despite serving as Vice President for just six years, he has more positive policies to transform the country which Ghanaians could remember him for than Mr. Mahama.
“As Vice President, Ghanaians can remember me for Ghana Card, Digital Address System, Digitisation, One District One Ambulance and more positive impactful policies,” Dr. Bawumia pointed out.
He stated that, “If I have done all these as Vice President, then everything shows that as President I will do more for this country,” noting that he is the best person to lead the NPP and Ghana in 2024.
