Everton have immediately been docked ten points for violating the profit and sustainability regulations of the Premier League.
With a new total of four points, Everton is now ranked 19th in the table following the largest sporting sanction in the competition’s history.
The club said it was “both shocked and disappointed” by the “wholly disproportionate and unjust” ruling.

Everton has announced its intention to appeal the decision. The club was referred to an independent commission in March, and although specific details of the breach were not disclosed, Everton reported a £44.7 million deficit for the 2021-22 season.
Premier League regulations allow clubs to incur losses of up to £105 million over a three-year period, and Everton acknowledged a breach for the period ending in 2021-22. The independent commission ruled in favor of the Premier League, determining Everton’s losses amounted to £124.5 million during that period.
