A gas explosion at the Eastern Regional Hospital’s Oxygen Unit in Koforidua on Thursday evening has claimed the life of a security guard.
The cause of the oxygen cylinder explosion remains unclear; however, two other healthcare workers who were present in the facility at the time of the incident escaped unharmed.
The deceased individual, who sustained head injuries, was promptly transferred to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit and placed on a ventilator. Unfortunately, the individual passed away shortly thereafter.
The hospital’s management has already notified the deceased’s family about the unfortunate occurrence and is actively collaborating with the police, who have initiated an investigation into the incident.
