Brazilian defender David Luiz has hailed the qualities of Ethan Ampadu as the Welsh-born Ghanaian defender looks to break into the Chelsea FC team in the upcoming campaign.

Ampadu joined the Blues from lower-tier side Exeter City at the beginning of last term, but failed to break into the first team as he spent most of his time with the side’s U23 team.

The 17-year-old will be hoping to impress new Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri as he looks to try and hold down a regular spot in the first team under the new boss.

Luiz has been hugely impressed by the Ghanaian’s attitude both on and off the pitch for the Blues in recent weeks.

“He’s a fantastic boy, a fantastic player and he has great humility,” he told Club’s website.

“He’s very humble, he has his feet on the ground and tries to learn every day. He’s 17, almost 18, but for me he’s already a man to play football.”

“It’s great for me to have this kind of opportunity, to play with this little boy, although he’s not a little boy, he’s already a man and he’s playing very well.”

“I’ve played with many different players in the world, different ages and at different times of their lives, and it’s always great to play with someone like him.”

“I try to teach him many things that I’ve already passed in my career. I try to help him in the best way because he deserves the best advice.”
