Jupitar has reiterated the view of many that the 2019 VGMAs confusion which was caused by Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy has seriously impacted negatively on the fortunes of the genre, dancehall.

Speaking with Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM, Jupitar did not doubt dancehall having its ‘violence’ part but then added that due to the well-cultured and mannered aspect of Ghanaians he expected Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy to display a high level of decency on that day, especially.

He, however, questioned the need for peace in dancehall, wondering if dancehall artistes were people who reconcile adversaries to bring about harmony.

“We don’t need no peace in dancehall… Peace for what? Are we some sort of freedom fighters? he quizzed.

He enlightened that the energy of the genre actually comes from the battle/ competition, keeping dancehall alive.

Jupitar reiterated that the smoked peace pipe now has had a major impact on the vitality of dancehall. Few popular ones like Beenie man versus Mavado, Vybz Kartel versus Mavado, Vybz Kartel versus Ninja man saw the energy in dancehall rejuvenating from time to time.
