The Board of Directors of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) has introduced the newly-appointed Managing Director, Mr George Mensah Okley to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, at a short ceremony at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The BOST Board, led by Nana Yaw Owusu Akwanuasa, included Mr Desmond Afutu Nartey, Mr Alex Djornobuah Tetteh, Nana John Kweku Akyeme Duncan and Ms Joyce Agyeman Attafuah, Acting Board Secretary, as well as some senior management members.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu advised Mr Mensah Okley to remain focused as he worked assiduously to achieve the corporate objectives of the company, stressing that, the job at hand called for humility, discipline and support of all stakeholders to ensure the successful management of the company for the growth of the oil industry.
“With your good understanding and experience in Ghana’s petroleum regulations and exposure in the oil and gas industry, it was expected of you to bring your expertise to bear for increased productivity in the company’s endeavours,†the Otumfuo said.
Mr. Mensah Okley was grateful to the Otumfuo for his counsel, and promised that he would remain committed to the cause of the company.
The BOST MD used the opportunity to outline the company’s short-term vision, including expanding its trading frontiers into neighbouring countries, setting up a world class trading department, restructuring of its corporate governance and re-branding to boost its image.
He said the BOST was also seeking to optimize logistics and supply chain through automation to ensure cost-effective movement of petroleum products across the country.
A brief profile of Mr Mensah Okley indicates that, he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), as well as Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dortmund, with a focus on Fluid Separation Process, Process Modelling and Optimization, Process Control Design and Modelling of Dynamic Systems.
Additionally, he has a Master’s Degree in Reservoir Evaluation and Management from the Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, with a focus on oil field operation (petroleum economics, production and drilling), reservoir engineering, reservoir concepts, reservoir sedimentology, formation evaluation, well testing and production, reservoir simulation, rock mechanics with geophysics and modelling with management.
Mr. Okley worked as a Research Scientific Officer at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission from 2005 to 2007, and Petroleum Engineer at the Ministry of Energy from 2008 to 2012; and also served as Acting Head of Upstream of the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy from 2013 to 2017.
