Barcelona has initiated contact with Nico Williams’ agent as the Athletic Bilbao forward’s contract is set to expire next summer, as reported by Diario Sport.
At just 21 years old, Williams has had an impressive start to the LaLiga season with Athletic and showcased his abilities during the international break while playing for Spain, contributing to three goals in victories against Georgia and Cyprus.
Given their financial constraints, Barcelona is actively seeking free-agent options for the upcoming summer, and Williams is considered one of the top prospects on their radar.
Athletic is eager to extend Williams’ contract, which has prompted Barcelona to inform the player’s agent, Felix Tainta, of their interest should he opt not to renew his current contract.
Williams, who is versatile enough to play on either the left or right side of a front three, happens to be the brother of his Athletic teammate, Iñaki.
