Media personality and influencer Nana Aba Anamoah criticised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) amid reports of the senior national team struggling to secure a standard pitch for their pre-African Cup of Nations (AFCON) camp.
"The FA should be ashamed that they do not own a training facility befitting our national teams," she tweeted on January 3, 2023.
Social media users widely supported her stance.
Earlier in the day, Ghanasoccernet.com reported that Ghana coach Chris Hughton and his backroom staff expressed frustration and anger over the poor camping facilities in the country.
The players were also dissatisfied with the state of the training pitch and overall conditions in the camp, just 11 days before the start of the 2023 AFCON in Cote d'Ivoire.
The team had initially planned to train at the Baba Yara Stadium but changed to the privately owned Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex due to the unsuitability of the national facility upon inspection by the technical team.
Despite the setback, the Black Stars remain dedicated to their goal of preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The challenges posed by the suboptimal pitch conditions have, however, heightened the technical team's disappointment, emphasising the importance of suitable training environments for optimal performance in the upcoming tournament.
