Defending champions Senegal secured a spot in the last 16 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-1 victory over Cameroon in Group C.

Ismaila Sarr opened the scoring in the 16th minute, and Habib Diallo extended the lead midway through the second half. Jean-Charles Castelletto pulled one back for Cameroon with seven minutes remaining, creating a tense finish.

However, Sadio Mane sealed the win for Senegal in stoppage time.

Senegal will top Group C if they avoid defeat in their final group match against Guinea. Guinea is currently second in the table after defeating The Gambia 1-0.

Cameroon will likely need to beat The Gambia in their final group match to progress to the knockout stages. Cameroon could still qualify as one of the four best third-placed teams if they do not surpass Guinea on goal difference or goals scored.
