Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to compete for the signing of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, as reported by AS.
The 21-year-old's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, allowing him to engage in discussions with non-Spanish clubs in January if a contract extension cannot be finalised.
Numerous other European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Juventus, and PSG, have expressed interest in Williams.
Premier League teams such as Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham have reportedly scouted him, with Aston Villa having been unsuccessful in their attempt to secure the Spain international's services during the summer.
Barcelona and Real Madrid both recognise how important signing a player of Williams' calibre could be on a free transfer.
He has previously acknowledged the interest he has attracted, stating that it means he is "doing things well" and that "it's clear what decision [he] wants."
