Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been voted the Football Writers' Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year.

Salah has enjoyed a stellar individual season, registering 33 goals and 23 assists in all competitions and playing a major role in Liverpool's Premier League title win.

The Egypt international has started every league game for Arne Slot's side this term and recently ended months of speculation over his future by signing a two-year contract extension at Anfield.

The 32-year-old saw off competition from teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, as well as the likes of Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, to clinch this year's prize.

Mohamed Salah, born on June 15, 1992, in Nagrig, Egypt, is a professional footballer renowned for his speed, skill, and goal-scoring prowess. He plays as a forward for Liverpool FC and serves as the captain of the Egyptian national team.

Salah began his professional career with El Mokawloon in Egypt before moving to Europe, where he played for Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina, and Roma. His move to Liverpool in 2017 marked a turning point, as he quickly became one of the Premier League's most prolific scorers.

He has consistently been among the top scorers in the league, with standout seasons such as 2017–18, where he scored 32 goals, setting a new Premier League record for a 38-game season. In the 2024–25 season, he continued his exceptional form, scoring 28 goals and providing 18 assists, leading Liverpool to another Premier League title.

His performances earned him the Football Writers' Association (FWA) Men's Player of the Year award for the third time, a feat only matched by Thierry Henry.

Salah's commitment to Liverpool was reaffirmed in April 2025 when he signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2027. This decision came amid interest from other clubs, highlighting his dedication to Liverpool and its fans.
