Ghana Athletics has revealed an exciting plan for 2025, promising a year full of thrilling competitions both in Ghana and abroad.The season will begin on February 1 with the Mountain and Trail Run at the beautiful Aburi Mountain, creating a lively start to what will be a busy year.Next, the Paa Willie Athletic Championship will take place in Accra on February 8, bringing athletes and fans together for an exciting event in the capital.

February rounds out with two major events: the Kumasi Open Championship and the ISSAG Athletic Competition, ensuring a strong start to the year.March ushers in Ghana Athletics’ first international outing of the year. Athletes will head to Nanjing, China, for the World Indoor Championships, scheduled from 21-23 March.

But before that, local competitions will keep the momentum alive, including the GIS Festival in Borteyman, the GAF Open Championship in Accra, and the Volta Athletic Championship.April’s line-up begins with the Cape Coast Open Championship, a favourite on the athletic calendar.The coastal city will also host the GA/GES School Sports, a key event for unearthing young talent.

The month ends on a high note with two marquee events: the Penn Relays Championship in the United States, where Ghanaian athletes will compete on the global stage, and the Osimpam Marathon in Winneba, a celebration of endurance and community spirit.

October will mark the exciting conclusion of Ghana Athletics’ 2025 season with major events such as the GA SESSA Athletic Championship, the FNB Accra Marathon, and the Run for a Cure Ghana event, bringing an exciting end to the year.There are also other events that are yet to have confirmed dates, adding to the anticipation.
