Barcelona's top priority for the summer transfer window is the permanent signing of full-back Joao Cancelo, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Joao Cancelo, 29, was unexpectedly deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester City earlier in the year.

He was loaned first to Bayern Munich for the second half of the last season and then to Barcelona for the entirety of this term.

Executives at Barcelona have communicated their desire to make Cancelo's move to Camp Nou permanent in June to his agent, Jorge Mendes.

However, formal negotiations with Manchester City for this transfer have not commenced, and Barcelona is aware that the estimated cost of the operation would be around €25 million.

Cancelo, a Portugal international with a contract at Manchester City until June 2027, is considered a key player for Barcelona's coach Xavi.

He has showcased his abilities by scoring three goals and providing two assists in 16 appearances for Barcelona.
