Pablo Barrios has been promoted to the senior team after agreeing to a new contract with Atletico Madrid that runs through 2028.
The 19-year-old came off the bench in a 3-2 loss to Cadiz in LaLiga in October and then played against Porto in the final Champions League group-stage match a few days later.
Barrios has distinguished himself in Diego Simeone's squad during the World Cup's midseason break with goals in the Copa del Rey victories over Arenteiro and Real Oviedo.
The teenager made his LaLiga debut in the team's 2-0 win over Elche last month and was selected to start the 1-0 loss to Barcelona on January 8th.
In total, Barrios has featured in six of Atletico's seven games across all competitions since the World Cup, four of which have come as a starter.
Barrios joined Atletico's academy in 2018 from rivals Real Madrid.
