A viral video circulating on social media captures a group of young individuals willing to sell their votes for money in the ongoing Ejisu by-election.This election features candidates from three political parties and three independents, all vying for the vacant parliamentary seat representing Ejisu in Ghana's Parliament.
Among the contenders are the governing NPP’s candidate, up against Beatrice Boakye of the LPG, Esther Osei of the CPP, along with independent candidates Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Attakorah Joseph.
The by-election holds significant importance for the NPP, as it aims to defend a traditionally safe seat in Ejisu.Despite projections indicating a close race, including insights from Global InfoAnalytics, and the absence of a candidate from the main opposition NDC, the NPP is on edge, evident from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's recent campaign visit to rally support for their candidate, Kwabena Boateng. The by-election follows the passing of the area's former MP and Deputy Minister of Finance, John Ampontuah Kumah, earlier this year.
With 106,812 registered voters spread across 204 polling stations in the constituency, today marks a pivotal day for Ejisu's political landscape.
