The Regent of Mion, Mion-Gbonlana Alhassan Abdulai Mahamadu, has expressed strong support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer, ahead of the upcoming election.

During a recent courtesy call by Dr. Bawumia, the Regent highlighted the Vice President’s impressive contributions to the nation and his exceptional leadership qualities.

In a speech read on his behalf on Thursday, July 11, the Mion Regent emphasized the unparalleled nature of Dr. Bawumia's service as Vice President in Ghana's democratic history.

He noted that Bawumia’s efforts in promoting peace in Dagbon and initiating numerous projects in the Mion traditional area demonstrate his potential to excel as President.

"Your Excellency, your call on me today reminds me of the special role of my father, the late Mion-Lana Abdulai II. He offered a lot of prayers for Dagbon peace and initiated a lot of projects in the Mion traditional enclave. It is also public knowledge that he held a close affinity with your tradition and charted paths of projects to enhance the living standards of the people of the Mion area," the Regent stated.

He further acknowledged that these collaborative projects have significantly contributed to the NPP's success in the constituency. The Regent's speech highlighted the mutual efforts between his late father and Dr. Bawumia in achieving tangible benefits for the community.

"These projects no doubt have contributed to the success of your party in the constituency. It is in collaboration with you that these efforts have yielded a lot of dividends in our traditional area," he continued.

The Regent concluded by praising Dr. Bawumia’s potential, saying, "Your Excellency, having watched your performance as Vice President of our Republic, I have seen a lot of good potentials which cannot be swept under the carpet. Your sterling qualities and most effective leadership are undoubtedly unparalleled by any Vice President in the history of our democratic governance."
