Ghanaian journalist, Kwesi Pratt has directed a thought-provoking question to the Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport Corporation, Nana Akomea, sparking discussions regarding interpersonal relationships and attitudes towards infidelity.
During a media interaction, Mr. Pratt asserted that it is inappropriate for a man to resort to violence when he discovers that his wife is involved in infidelity.
He contended that just as a woman should not resort to violence if she discovers her partner's infidelity, a man should also refrain from such behavior when faced with a similar situation.
Mr. Pratt pointed out that such behavior contributes to the negative perception of men as being harsh and cruel.
He emphasized, "Would you resort to violence if your wife cheats on you? You have no right to resort to violence if your wife is unfaithful. Some men have contributed to the negative stereotype of men as cruel by their actions. Since a wife cannot resort to violence if her husband is unfaithful, a man should similarly refrain from violence when his wife cheats."
In response, Nana Akomea stated that no one is advocating for violence in the event of a spouse's infidelity.
Instead, he suggested that if a person finds themselves in such a situation, the appropriate action is to separate from the unfaithful partner.
He expressed, "We are not suggesting that you should resort to violence if you discover that your wife is cheating. The proper course of action in such circumstances is to end the relationship."
