Running mate to the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, widely known as Napo, has responded humorously to jokes made about him by comedian OB Amponsah, suggesting he deserves a share of the profits made from those performances.
“But I will let my lawyers write to him so that we share the proceeds, the revenue, because I am unemployed,” Napo said, drawing laughter from his audience.
The light-hearted remark comes after OB Amponsah’s standout performance at the Bukom Boxing Arena on December 21, 2024, where he poked fun at some of Napo’s campaign statements. His jokes, which touched on controversial comments Napo made during the election season, struck a chord with the audience and quickly went viral.
Despite the satire, Napo said he holds no grudge and is actually pleased with the visibility OB’s jokes have given him.
“If somebody who is a comedian is using my name and he is filling halls, I am very happy. I thank him because he is putting my name out there for free,” he added.
Napo’s reaction has been praised as a graceful and witty way of handling public criticism, turning mockery into a moment of shared laughter and unexpected camaraderie.
