Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has vowed that his side will return stronger next season following their heartbreaking Champions League elimination at the hands of Inter Milan.
Despite the narrow 7-6 aggregate loss in a thrilling semi-final encounter, Flick praised his players for their determination and resilience.
The defeat brought an end to Barcelona’s dream of securing a quadruple in Flick’s debut campaign, but the German tactician remains optimistic about the future.
“We will be back next season,” Flick said, reflecting on the defeat. “I’m proud of my team, I’m proud of your team, we gave everything, and sometimes it’s like that. We have to accept it, and we start again next season. To win the Champions League, this is one of our goals…”
Hansi Flick’s remarkable success at Bayern Munich—where he led the club to a historic sextuple—is expected to shape his strategy as he looks to rebuild and strengthen Barcelona next season.
With their Champions League journey over, the Catalan side now turns its attention to La Liga, where they currently hold a four-point advantage over arch-rivals Real Madrid.
The two sides are set to clash this Sunday at the Munjua Stadium, with Barcelona aiming to widen the gap at the top to seven points.
“And of course, La Liga, it will be also a tough match on Sunday but we also give everything,” Flick added. “When they (the players) look in the mirror when they arrive at home at three or four o’clock in the night, or in the morning, I think they can be very proud.”
In his debut season, Hansi Flick has already guided Barcelona to triumph in both the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, defeating Real Madrid in the finals of both competitions.
With only four matches remaining in the season, the reigning La Liga champions are now eyeing a domestic treble—hoping to outclass their fierce rivals once more to cap off a successful campaign.
