Ghanaian artiste Edem has emphasized the need for collaboration among musicians, stating that a single artiste cannot single-handedly elevate Ghana onto the global stage. He believes that unity and collective efforts will be key in positioning the country’s music industry internationally.
Speaking on Hitz FM’s DayBreak Hitz program, Edem stressed that in the highly competitive global music landscape, Ghanaian artistes must support each other and work together to gain international prominence.
“Artistes like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Ayra Starr have all contributed to Nigeria’s success in the music industry. So if one man thinks, ‘I can be the only one to take Ghana to the world,’ that won’t work. We need to support each other, collaborate, and push everyone forward,” he stated.
To illustrate the importance of solidarity, the Toto hitmaker recounted his surprise visit to Stonebwoy in the United States while the latter was on tour.
“I was in the US for the Grammy weekend. Gambo and I performed at the Grammy pre-party. Then I flew back to Ghana in January but was scheduled to return to the US in February. When I saw Stonebwoy’s tour dates, I congratulated him and decided to attend one of his shows.
“I informed my team and US handler, and we drove to the venue. Stonebwoy was thrilled to see me, and we spoke at his hotel,” Edem shared.
His remarks serve as a call to action for Ghanaian musicians to foster collaboration, as he believes this approach will not only strengthen the industry but also increase Ghana’s visibility on the global music scene.
