Former President John Dramani Mahama, also the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), delivered a sermon at the Ringway Assemblies of God Church on Sunday.
His sermon was part of the church's Men’s Ministry Day and Father's Day celebrations.
Mahama, a member of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church, spoke passionately about the timeless teachings found in Jesus's parables. He highlighted the relevance of these parables in teaching Christians valuable lessons even today.
Reflecting on the Parable of the Prodigal Son, Mahama emphasized the message of God the Father's unconditional love and forgiveness.
He also delved into the Parable of the Good Samaritan, stressing the importance of showing love and compassion to everyone, regardless of background or circumstances.
Mahama further discussed the Parable of the Lost Sheep, reminding the congregation of the value that God places on each individual.
He urged fathers, husbands, and men of God to reflect on these parables and strive to live out their lessons daily.
“As fathers, husbands, and men of God, we must reflect on these powerful parables and strive to live out their lessons daily,” he said.
“Remember the importance of love, forgiveness, compassion, and everyone’s value. Just as the father in the Parable of the Prodigal Son eagerly welcomed back his wayward son, our heavenly Father waits for us to return to him.”
Encouraging the congregation to build their lives on the foundation of God’s word, Mahama expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share these teachings with the church.
He concluded his sermon by blessing the congregation and wishing them a Happy Father’s Day.
