A tragic incident occurred on the night of August 18, 2024, in Gorton, where a 43-year-old Ghanaian woman, Alberta Obinim, her 64-year-old husband, Elder Joshua, and her daughter were fatally attacked by their 22-year-old son.
The violent episode, which unfolded around 11:20 p.m. at their residence on Barnard Road, also left their 17-year-old daughter critically injured.
According to reports, the son, whose identity has not been disclosed, launched a knife attack on his family.
Both parents were severely wounded and rushed to the hospital.
Despite medical efforts, Elder Joshua died shortly after Alberta, who had been pronounced dead earlier.
The couple's daughter is in the hospital fighting for her life after sustaining serious stab wounds.
The son was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody, facing charges of murder.
The Ghanaian community has been deeply affected by this tragedy, and the news has been shared widely, including by Obudo and Alex Appiah Mensah, prominent figures in the Ghana Union in the US and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) UK, respectively, through social media platforms.
"We took Elder Joshua to the hospital hoping that he would recover, but this morning, Elder Joshua has also died.
The child who stabbed his parents both of them have died, and now it is only his sister who is fighting for her life in the hospital. We are deeply saddened," one of them said.
