Some residents of Tema are asking President John Mahama to choose someone from Tema to be the next Chief Executive of the area.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, the residents dressed in red to show their concern—said they have nothing against people from other regions being given top positions.
“We are not against the fact that big positions are held by persons from the North and also the Volta. It is not as if we are better than them. But we want to tell the president that what is good for the goose is equally good for the gander,” they said.
“All the 25 clan houses in Tema have told us that we need to give them someone who is an indigene who understands them. It will help the clans to know that at least this is our person,” a resident stated.
Another added, “We will know that at least the mayor is a son or a daughter of the soil. That is the only thing we are asking for.”
