2 mins readPresident-elect John Dramani Mahama has called on National Democratic Congress (NDC) members to refrain from any acts of vandalism following his win in the 2024 general elections.This plea comes in response to reports of party supporters causing damage to property at EC offices and other state institutions since Mahama was provisionally declared the winner of the polls.

In his victory speech at his campaign office, Mahama addressed the incidents, urging party members to stop the destruction of government property.“There have been reports of acts of vandalism at some government facilities and installations. I urge you not to vent your frustration in a criminal enterprise,” Mr Mahama cautioned.

He urged party members to focus their energy and emotions on positive initiatives, highlighting the crucial role of unity in the nation's rebuilding efforts.“We must channel our anger and frustration into the positive enterprise of resetting and rebuilding our nation,” he said.The president-elect also urged his supporters to keep their celebrations short, emphasizing the great responsibility that awaits them.

Now we know that not only is change possible, but it is also already in process,” he remarked.The Electoral Commission announced Mahama as the winner, securing 56.55% of the vote, while his opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party, received 41.61%.
