The controversy arose after Quaye posted a photo of NPP figures Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh at Prempeh’s unveiling on July 9, 2024, describing the image as "beautiful" and asking for the photographer's contact details.

Critics, including Edem Agbana, a former Deputy National Youth Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), urged Quaye to clarify his political affiliations.In his response on July 11, Quaye pointed out that the reactions missed the original purpose of his post, which was to locate the photographer.

He observed that the comments were largely driven by partisan sentiments, with opposition members expressing displeasure, party supporters showing approval, and others engaging in confrontational discourse.Quaye emphasized that his political stance is well-known to those who are familiar with him, criticizing the expectation that everyone should publicly declare their political allegiances.

"Just for clarity, my position on Ghanaian politics has never been ambiguous to those who know me. Wearing one's political views openly isn’t necessary for everyone. What some might view as 'cowardice' could simply be someone’s personal style. So, let's move away from demanding everyone to 'Be Bold Be Bold,'" he added.
