2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) Artiste of the Year winner, King Promise, has played down public excitement surrounding a congratulatory message received from dancehall artiste Stonebwoy.
In a post shared on X on May 12, Stonebwoy congratulated the “Paris” hitmaker, welcoming him to what he described as “the league of winners."
King Promise shared his reaction in an interview on DayBreak Hitz, and for him, "it’s not a big deal".
“I have been told about his congratulatory message. I don’t think it’s a big deal. I’ve responded to a few, but I haven’t been on X today. They were telling me about it, and I told them to cool down...” he said.
The Artiste of the Year race at this year’s TGMAs was keenly contested, with the spotlight mainly on Stonebwoy, King Promise, King Paluta, and Kweku Smoke.
Many industry insiders and fans predicted a tight race between Stonebwoy and King Promise, with both enjoying massive success in the year under review.
On the TGMA night, King Promise walked away with three awards, including: Artiste of the Year, Best Afropop Song of the Year, and Album of the Year.
Meanwhile, Stonebwoy didn’t leave empty-handed. He won Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year and Best Music Video of the Year.
