Ghanaian actress Priscilla Opoku Agyeman, popularly known as Ahoufe Patri, has revealed that the issue of sex-for-roles is not confined to the entertainment industry but exists across various sectors.
Speaking in an interview on Max TV, she recounted a personal experience that highlighted the prevalence of the practice.
"The issue of sex for roles is prevalent everywhere, not just in the movie industry. I remember when I was about 19 years old, I met a producer who was interested in what I had to offer, but he insisted on getting to know me in a more personal way," she revealed.
At the time, she was in a committed relationship and refused to compromise her values. However, her decision angered the producer.
"I had a boyfriend whom I was deeply in love with, and I couldn’t imagine doing something like that with another man. The producer became angry," she recalled.
Years later, after gaining fame as Ahoufe Patri, she encountered the same producer again. However, he failed to recognize her and even expressed admiration for her work.
"He didn’t even realize who I was and told me he was a big fan," she recounted.
Opoku Agyeman emphasized the need for young professionals, especially women, to stand firm in their principles despite the pressures they may face. Her revelation adds to ongoing discussions about exploitation in workplaces and the call for safer professional environments.
