Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has responded with sarcasm to a recent statement by Bishop Samuel Owusu, senior pastor of Pottersville Church International, who claimed that every 25-year-old should have at least GHS25,000 saved in their bank account.
The pastor’s remark, made during an interview on Onua TV on May 1, 2025, sparked widespread discussion online. “At the age of 25, you should have at least GH¢25,000 in your bank account,” Bishop Owusu boldly declared.
Sarkodie, known for his quick wit on social media, took to X (formerly Twitter) to poke fun at the assertion, humorously admitting that he’s just short of the target.
“GH¢3,850 more then, I’m good to go. It’s a bit late but better than nothing, I guess,” he posted, drawing laughter and reactions from thousands of fans.
His tongue-in-cheek reply has added a light-hearted twist to what many see as an unrealistic benchmark, especially considering the economic challenges faced by Ghana’s youth. While some netizens agree with the call for early financial discipline, others argue that such expectations ignore real-life financial struggles.
Sarkodie’s post has since gone viral, further fueling the debate over societal pressures placed on young people to achieve financial milestones by certain ages.
