Veteran actor/comedian, Prince Yawson, popularly known as Waakye, has reportedly passed on.
The 52-year-old actor died in the early hours of August 2, 2022 at the 37 Military Hospital after battling an illness for years, according to sources.
He is famous for the role he played in various movies including Obra, Diabolo, in the early 2000s and recently, Chorkor Trotro, a Ghanaian comedy series which was aired on TV3.
He started his career in the movie/film industry as an actor but later, his acting career took a twist as he ventured into comedy.
The veteran actor has allegedly been bedridden by a mild stroke since 2013, which explains his disappearance from our TV screens, unlike times past when he served Ghanaian TV screens with unadulterated talent and unlimited entertainment.
He, however, popped up in 2017, testifying about God's goodness and how he had been saved from the grips of death.
Subsequently, he was ordained as a man of God at a ceremony at the Word Impact Centre in Accra on April 25, 2021.
This was after he publicly revealed that he has enrolled in a Bible School.
News reaching The Independent Ghana , however, indicates that the actor is no more. Death has laid its cold hands on him.
'Waakye' is the father of two beautiful daughters.
