Professor of Financial Economics at the University of Ghana Business School, Lord Mensah is now the new Head of Local Government.
He brings a robust academic background to the role, having earned a PhD in Applied Economics-Finance from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. His undergraduate studies in Mathematics were completed at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
His work has gained global recognition, with presentations at prestigious conferences such as the World Finance Conference in Portugal, the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research, and other events in countries like the U.S., South Africa, Vietnam, France, and Singapore. His research is widely cited and indexed in key academic databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.
In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Mensah has worked as a consultant for high-profile organizations, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, the UNDP, and the Bank of Ghana. He also holds the position of Executive Director at the African Centre for Development Finance and is a well-known figure in Ghana’s financial sector.
This appointment marks a significant step in utilizing his expertise to improve local governance in Ghana, particularly in areas related to fiscal decentralization and development financing.
