President John Dramani Mahama is expected to address the nation today, Wednesday, May 7, to give an account of how his administration has fared under the 120-day contract he signed with Ghanaians.
This was revealed by the Minister of State responsible for Government Communication,Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who urged Ghanaians across the country to listen to the broadcast.
He explained that the President’s remarks would offer citizens a chance to judge for themselves whether the promises made at the beginning of the 120-day period had been kept.
“On Wednesday, the President will hold a broadcast in which he will render account for his stewardship in the last four months or 120 days. Therefore, I will urge Ghanaians to tune in and listen to the President so that they can draw their conclusion as to the level of compliance with the very promises that the President made to the people of Ghana,” he stated.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on May 5, Kwakye Ofosu indicated that the national address would focus on the significant milestones achieved during the four-month period.
According to him, the President has already fulfilled a number of the commitments he made when the contract began.
He cited several interventions the government has implemented, including efforts to streamline public spending by reducing the number of ministers, convening key national dialogues on education and the economy, initiating environmental and digital development programmes, and removing burdensome taxes.
The Minister added that beyond highlighting what has been done so far, the President would also use the occasion to introduce new plans and give updates on pending initiatives.
“The President will give an update on what he has been doing in respect of the 120-day contract,” he said.
