A 34-year-old woman who was kidnapped by armed robbers after an operation at her family apartment at Abuakwa Asenemaso on Tuesday has been rescued.

It took the swift intervention of the Ashanti Regional Police Command to locate her at an uncompleted building at Mmetiam near Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya municipality.

Before the rescue mission, the robbers reached out to the hostage's family and demand a GHC20,000 ransom, according to JoyNews reports.

The victim, who is an accountant at the Mpasatia Senior High School, is currently receiving healthcare at the Abuakwa Polyclinic.

It is unknown if havoc was unleashed on the hostage, but the robbers carried machetes when they engaged in their operation.
