While he acknowledges that sirens may make travel easier, he believes they aren't essential for him as an MP.

Dumelo pointed out that some of his colleagues support the use of sirens, which has sparked an ongoing debate.

However, he disagrees with this opinion, particularly with his fellow MP, Kwame Obeng Asare, known as A Plus, who recently stated that he now understands why MPs might need sirens.

"I was with him in parliament for orientation, but I just left. A Plus says we need sirens, maybe that's his opinion, but personally, I don't think I need a siren.

"I know some people do, and it's a debate that has been ongoing for some time, but personally, I don't," he said in a video shared by EDHUB on X.

John Dumelo was elected as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon in the 2024 parliamentary elections, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party.

A previous proposal to allow government officials, including MPs, to use sirens was met with strong public opposition and was eventually rejected.
