Addressing a press conference on Thursday, February 13, 2025, NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, firmly stated that Ofori-Atta is not a fugitive and will return to the country once he receives medical clearance.

"Mr. Ofori-Atta can never be a fugitive. He is not a fugitive, and he will never be a fugitive. The OSP got it wrong. He got it wrong. Once Ofori-Atta’s doctors declare him fit and healthy, he will return to the country," Boakye said.

Boakye called on the Office of the Special Prosecutor to refrain from making inflammatory statements that could unnecessarily stir public emotions and create tension.
3
"Until then, the Special Prosecutor should avoid making sensational statements provoking public emotions and creating drama over a matter that could have been adequately resolved through correspondence," he added.
4
He emphasized that Ken Ofori-Atta had kept the OSP informed about his medical travels, clarifying that Ofori-Atta was not evading accountability.
5
"Ken Ofori-Atta is not evading accountability as the OSP claimed. On January 2, 2025, he wrote a letter to the then Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Osei-Opare, informing her of his travel to the United States for a follow-up medical visit, providing his current and reliable contact information. On January 22, 2025, Ofori-Atta again wrote to the new Chief of Staff, Julius Deborah, to inform him of his overseas medical examination," Boakye explained.
6
The Office of the Special Prosecutor has declared Ofori-Atta wanted, accusing him of corruption in relation to the SML, National Cathedral, and other projects during his tenure as Finance Minister.
7
However, the NPP insists that the allegations are baseless and that Ofori-Atta's absence is purely due to his ongoing medical treatment.
