2 mins readHusband of prominent Ghanaian broadcaster Bridget Otoo, Dr Evans Ago Tetteh, has stormed the Greater Accra Regional Police Headquarters after his wife was allegedly assaulted for being a part of and covering the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

The demonstration, organized by the #FixtheCountry movement, aimed to demand a range of reforms, including a reduction in the cost of living, an end to corruption, and improved governance.The police had filed an application for injunction seeking to prohibit the protest from moving forth, citing security concerns and COVID-19 protocols. However, the organizers went ahead with the demonstration despite the warnings from the police.

The police allegedly came with horses, cars and with heavy arms to disperse and arrest the protesters, who were mostly clad in black and red. Among those who were arrested were some prominent activists including Metro Tv journalist and business woman, Bridget Otoo.A video circulating on social media shows the moment when she was attacked.

Two men not in uniform came out of the Accra Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service located at Tudu, and charged at her, pushing her with extreme force into the building amid protests from fellow protesters who were in front of the facility demanding the release of their colleagues who had been detained.

Bridget Otoo who seemingly was later let go stated that the police tore part of her shirt, physically assaulted her and other participants.Her husband, Dr Evans Ago Tetteh, who is a lecturer at Regional Maritime University, Accra, arrived at the police headquarters shortly after her arrest. He was seen in a video posted by a Twitter user @FlavaFlavswife confronting the police officers and challenging them to harm his wife.“Men are here now.
