2 mins readPrivate legal practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenini, has revealed that some leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are seeking his legal assistance to challenge President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to revoke appointments of public service workers hired after December 7, 2024.

Speaking on Adom FM on Friday, February 21, 2025, Anyenini noted that some of the same individuals who are now reaching out for help were responsible for dismissing National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointees when the NPP took power in 2017.
1
“Some leaders in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) called me to defend those whose appointments have been revoked by Mahama’s government,” he disclosed.
2
According to him, this turn of events highlights the irony of political transitions, where parties that once wielded power to remove others from office later find themselves on the receiving end of similar actions.
3
“Some of the leaders who called me were the same individuals who had dismissed people when they were appointed heads of companies and institutions, during which NDC members were let go after their party assumed power. Now, they are calling me to come to their rescue,” he remarked.
4
Anyenini further criticized the NPP’s reaction to the revocations, stating that they are condemning the same actions they carried out while in power. He questioned whether politicians ever reflect on their decisions and how they could eventually face the same consequences.
5
“I was reflecting on the entire situation, seeing how NPP members are speaking out against these issues, and Afenyo-Markin even releasing a statement. I asked myself if these politicians ever take a moment to consider whether their actions could eventually come back to hurt them,” he added.
6
He stressed that while political transitions often lead to such dismissals, it is ultimately the ordinary citizens who suffer the most from politically motivated decisions.
7
“These things happen with every government, and if you don’t take care, you will not sympathize with the NPP because they did worse than what is happening to them. But our profession as journalists requires us to be professionals and speak against illegalities,” he urged.
8
Anyenini called on Ghanaians to be bold in addressing political injustices, advocating for a neutral stance in speaking truth to power rather than focusing solely on past political actions.
