Founding father of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Attah Boamah in New Jersey, has called for a new leadership within the national party.
He expressed that the NPP requires new leaders due to widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Boamah criticized Akufo-Addo for failing to uphold the principles of discipline and accountability that he had promised.
Speaking at the NPP USA's 30th anniversary event, attended by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boamah stated, "What our forefathers did is what we are supposed to continue with. The party right now needs good leadership."
“Nana Addo has failed the NPP. Why? He came in and swore to us that he would use discipline and accountability," he added.
Boamah also issued a warning to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other party officials, including former senior minister Osafo-Maafo, reminding them that the NPP is not the property of any single ethnic group.
"He (Akufo-Addo) failed. Look at what is going on in Ghana right now. The party doesn’t belong to the Akyem people. How many Akyem people in Ghana have registered to vote?
"This is a warning to the Vice President and the party officials, Osafo-Maafo, and the rest of them; they all need to sit back," he said.
