1 min readThe New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has spotlighted the Akufo-Addo administration’s success in job creation, asserting it has surpassed previous governments.Referencing Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) data and additional sources, Dr. Bawumia reported that around 2.6 million jobs have been generated, with 1.4 million positions in the private sector and 1.
2 million in the public sector.He underscored that these figures represent the government’s dedication to bolstering Ghana’s economy and providing more opportunities for citizens.Dr. Bawumia also acknowledged the current economic challenges, but he reassured Ghanaians of his commitment to continued job creation efforts if elected in December.
“We have done a remarkable job in creating jobs in the last seven years, indeed so far, as of yesterday or a day before…I checked the data from SSNIT and other sources and so far, between 2017 and 2024, the latest data is that we have created 2.6 million jobs.“1.4 in the private sector and 1.2 in the public sector. This is the highest of any government in the 4th Republic and the highest job creation.
We have more to do because we still have high unemployment. Our youth still need jobs,” Bawumia said during his Engagement with the Youth in Accra on Sunday, November 3.
