President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has been appointed as the new president of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B after the resignation of Kurt Okraku, who doubles as Ghana's GFA head.
Kurt Okraku stepped down as WAFU head after assuming his new role as Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee member, where he now serves as the 2nd Vice President.
Combining these two roles, according to Kurt, would be unsustainable, as he still serves as Ghana's current head of the Ghana Football Authority (GFA).
Gusau’s appointment was backed by member associations from various regions in Africa , given his rich experience in football.
His appointment is set to move to ensure stability while infusing fresh momentum into the leadership of the sub-regional football body.
He served as the chairman of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the Zamfara Football Association and has served on several CAF committees, including the Youth Organizing Committee.
Elected as the 40th NFF President during the federation’s 78th Elective Congress, Gusau succeeds Amaju Pinnick.
His appointment to lead WAFU B is expected to strengthen regional cooperation and drive football development across West Africa.
About WAFU
WAFU is a regional football management body that checks football development in West Africa.
Founded in 1975, it operates as a subregional body under the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
