Nigerian superstar Rema grabbed attention at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina when he walked off stage during his performance on Sunday.
The festival, spanning April 6 and 7, showcased top-tier artists like J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Monica, and Muni Long. Rema shared the stage with these music icons on day 2.
However, during his performance of ‘Calm Down,’ a hit track, Rema paused due to sound problems.
A video circulating online captures Rema expressing frustration with the sound quality, calling it “messed up” and affecting his ability to deliver a top-notch performance.
He not only highlighted the sound issues but also advocated for fair treatment regarding sound quality for all artists, stressing the need for an equal playing field to ensure optimal performances.
“Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It is messing up my whole performance, I am seriously not feeling this sh*t at all,” he remarked.
“It is too messed up. I am representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that gets on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sh*t up? I will walk out this stage bruh, fix it!”
In another clip, Rema reiterated his concerns about the sound before exiting the stage.
“Too many sound issues my people, I love you goodnight,” he concluded. This incident isn’t the first time Rema has left a stage due to production issues.
In July 2023, he made headlines for a similar exit during a performance in Atlanta, citing dissatisfaction with the venue and alleging disrespect toward him and Afrobeats music.
