1 min readOutgoing Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, formally inaugurated Alexander Afenyo-Markin as the new Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Tuesday. The appointment by President Akufo-Addo signals a renewed focus on addressing the challenges within the power distribution sector.During the inauguration ceremony, Afenyo-Markin emphasized the urgent need to confront the obstacles facing the ECG.

In his acceptance speech, he acknowledged the progress made by the government in improving electricity provision but underscored that much work remains. "Whilst the government has made significant improvements in electricity provision, there is still more to be accomplished," he noted.The Effutu Member of Parliament highlighted his commitment to driving thoughtful reform and innovation within the ECG.

"We must address the pressing issues that confront us to ensure efficient and reliable power distribution," Afenyo-Markin asserted.Dr. Opoku Prempeh, known as Napo, highlighted the pivotal role of the ECG in national development and the necessity for strong leadership to navigate its future. He expressed confidence in Afenyo-Markin's capabilities to lead the company towards achieving its goals.
