1 min readNine police personnel sustained injuries during an operation in Nandom, Upper West Region, when the service vehicle they were traveling in had an accident on the Nandom-Hamile highway.

The injured officers, including Chief Inspector Fatawu Jangu, Constable Sandra Abdul-Rahman, Constable Rose Amu, and General Constables Felix Amponsah, Emmanuel Asare, Emmanuel Oppong, Christian Antwi, and Ezra Kwaku Lamedeku, are currently receiving treatment at Nandom.

The incident occurred on April 5, 2024, at about 0800 hours, when the team responded to a distress call regarding a potential road blockade by a group involved in the Dagaaba/Sissala conflict in Lambussie. The police vehicle, driven by the Chief Inspector, was en route to Lambussie through Piina, Suke, and Bugnuo on the Piina-Fermor road to prevent the road blockade.

However, upon discovering that the information was false, the team was returning when the accident occurred at Bu near Nandom on the Nandom-Hamile Highway. The vehicle has been towed to the Nandom Police station for further investigation.This incident marks the third time in a month that police officers have been involved in a car accident while on duty, with one of the previous accidents resulting in a fatality.
