1 min readVeteran Highlife performer Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has disclosed that, in spite of his position as a Chief, he is free to publicly endorse any political party.The ardent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said everyone has the right to voice their opinions in the political sphere, regardless of their standing.

He stated in an interview on Cape Coast based Property FM that: “ I will be well involved in the campaign of the 2024 elections because I have to also share my opinion when it’s time for that.”The veteran Highlife musician shared that most Ghanaian musicians have been the subject of criticisms as a result of their open campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He suggested that more could be done by the ruling administration to reduce criticism and shaming.“ When we meet, we talk about how people are lambasting us, especially those of us who have campaigned for the NPP in the previous elections. So they should change things for the better because if a Chief is able to become an MP in Ghana, why should they ban us from politics.

”Kaakyire Kwame Appiah is set to release his first single titled “Matwere Wodin” in the coming days as he seeks to give the needed spark to the Highlife genre.
