Romelu Lukaku has made a remarkable beginning at Roma and has responded to his critics following yet another impressive display on the field.
After a disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian striker joined the Italian powerhouse on a season-long loan during the final hours of the transfer window.
Since then, Lukaku has displayed exceptional form, netting seven goals in eight appearances across all competitions.
This includes his two goals in the recent 4-1 triumph against newly promoted Cagliari over the weekend.
His current performances are a stark departure from his time at Chelsea.
“I prove on the pitch what I can give to a team. Today things went well,” the Roma striker said [via Tuttomercatoweb].
Lukaku also talked about his special relationship with Jose Mourinho and him being one of the reasons for his good form: "As I’ve said in the past, he and I have a special relationship.
He knows me and my children," said the Roma striker. "He’s someone I can trust, and he puts his trust in me. He’s tough, but that’s the only way that I can grow.'
Thanks to his outstanding performances for Roma, Lukaku has earned a place in the Belgium squad for the upcoming international break.
During the Euro 2024 qualifying round, Domenico Tedesco's squad is set to face off against Sweden and Austria.
