In a shocking incident, Joseph Richard allegedly set fire to the room of his girlfriend, Betty Herman, in Axim, Western Region, at approximately 3 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

At the time of the attack, Betty's children, 16-year-old Joseph Ben and 3-year-old Richlove Asiedua Yeboah, were asleep and sustained severe burns.

The act is believed to have been triggered by Betty's decision to end the relationship.

Eyewitnesses claim Richard intended to harm the children, but their lives were saved thanks to the quick response of neighbors, who alerted firefighters and the police.

The injured children are currently receiving treatment at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Meanwhile, Richard fled the scene, leaving behind clothes and a fuel container, which were discovered at the site.

Local residents are urging the police to arrest Richard and ensure he faces justice for his actions.
