The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of 29-year-old Samuel Aryeetey Kortor, a man already wanted for murder, after he was seen in a viral video discharging a firearm at Jamestown, a suburb of Accra.
According to the police, Kortor was apprehended on April 9, 2025, through an intelligence-led operation. He is currently in custody, assisting with investigations.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the police stated:“Initial investigation has revealed that the suspect is also wanted by the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for murder.”
Following his arrest, a search at his residence in Gbese-Jamestown led to the discovery of a Beretta pistol with serial number PX-195994.
The police further indicated that efforts are ongoing to arrest other individuals who appeared in the viral video.
“We are working to arrest the remaining suspects who were captured in the video,” the statement added.
It added that Samuel Aryeetey Kortor is in its custody, assisting with the investigation.
