Mr Kpebu emphasized that if Akufo-Addo had excelled in governance, Mahama would not have been reconsidered for the position.Regarding the Presidency's response to the KPMG audit report on the GRA-SML deal, Kpebu stated, “you think if Akufo-Addo had performed well with press freedom, and turned the economy, the NDC would have brought JM? No. So Akufo-Addo has single-handedly resurrected Mahama.

“If we have to force him to release the KPMG report, then it means we have retrogressed under Akufo-Addo.”He highlighted that Akufo-Addo's administration's performance prompted Mahama's reinstatement. The KPMG audit unveiled discrepancies in the GRA-SML agreement, with no technical needs assessment conducted before engaging SML.

The Presidency issued directives in response to the report's findings, including possible termination of certain services and renegotiation of contracts. The investigation by The Fourth Estate exposed false claims made by SML, which allegedly received payments based on unsubstantiated assertions. Upon confrontation with these findings, SML removed significant services claimed on its website.
