Ghana's Afua Asantewaa has embarked on an ambitious endeavor to break the record for the longest singing marathon by an individual, currently standing at 105 hours. The nearly five-day event commenced precisely at 12:00 am on Sunday, December 24th, and is set to conclude on December 27th, 2023.
Asantewaa sees this as a unique opportunity to showcase outstanding Ghanaian music to a global audience. Committed to promoting local talent, she has pledged to exclusively perform Ghanaian music throughout her record-breaking attempt.
The event, held at Akwaaba Village, is anticipated to draw thousands of music enthusiasts and well-wishers who wish to support Asantewaa in this historic feat.
To validate her record-breaking attempt, Asantewaa must meticulously document her preparations, including practices, interviews, and incorporate these into the official video recording of the attempt.
During the marathon, Asantewaa is permitted to sit, stand, or lie down as long as she continues singing. However, unlike traditional music performances, she cannot engage in activities like humming or drumming. The rules allow her to talk in between songs.
