Today marks 66 years since Ghana gained independence – and this year’s celebration is being held at Ho in the Volta Region for the very first time.

This year’s event is under the theme “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose.”

The Special Guest of Honour for this year’s celebration is President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea Bissau, who is also the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
