Liverpool manager Arne Slot has applauded Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus for his impressive performance during their 2-1 win over West Ham United on April 13, 2025.
Slot highlighted Kudus’ sharp attacking runs in the final third, saying they caused problems for Liverpool’s defense, especially when West Ham were trailing by a goal.
He also noted that Kudus, together with Lucas Paquetá and other West Ham players, played so well that the match could have ended differently if Liverpool had lost focus.
"These two quality players, I think Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus were outstanding today, especially in the second half. Maybe because we were 1-0 up and we conceded one or two chances, it led to a situation where we were a bit too afraid or didn't press hard enough anymore.
“It's them taking more and more risk, bringing a lot of players into the midfield and they still had their threat in these runs with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka, [Jarrod] Bowen and all the others. It was a bit of both. Definitely credit to West Ham as well but you don't only see this here, I see this every game that I watch," Slot told reporters after the game.
Liverpool defeated West Ham 2-1 at Anfield, with goals from Luis Díaz and Virgil van Dijk securing the win. West Ham's only goal came after Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson accidentally put the ball into his own net.
The victory puts Liverpool in a strong position to win the league, as they now have 76 points. West Ham, meanwhile, are struggling in 17th place with 35 points.
Rumours are circulating that Liverpool may be interested in signing Mohammed Kudus to boost their attacking options. However, any move will depend on what happens during the 2024/25 summer transfer window.
